Let's face it - there are many reasons it might not be ideal to cook a nourishing, balanced meal every night of the week. Or to make super, big-ass salads with all the fixins and homemade dressing to take with us for lunch. 

You might have a day where you had to work late, or the kids had a soccer game, or you're just super busy with work, kids, classes, family responsibilities, keeping up with the laundry and other housework... Or, maybe you just don't like to cook and you are sick of your usual take-out options. Maybe you appreciate the meal service but the price and packaging is driving you a little nuts.

I got you - this post has a list of all my favorite grab-and-go foods from the grocery store along with a few tips for ordering take-out.

The format of the list is set up to help you put together a Balanced Meal, which consists of:

  1. Mostly veggies
  2. Protein 
  3. Whole grain carb or fruit
  4. Healthy fats

So for example, you could put this meal together in 5 minutes at home:

Salad bar or packaged salad kit, rotisserie chicken from the deli, cooked brown rice packet, and bananas with peanut butter for dessert.
